Independence Day

here I am sitting comfortably on the couch after working a short shift at work. It has been an interesting day so far. Amazingly crazy. This was my first time to volunteer to work the holiday so I had no idea what it would be like. I assumed (silly me!) that people would sleep in, stay at home with family or go visit family. Not go shopping at a hardware store! In a way it was good because we sold a lot of merchandise but I started to feel overwhelmed because the plants were disappearing so quickly I didn't know where to start reorganizing the displays. The whole time I kept thinking... "What are all these people doing here today? They should be home celebrating, the freedoms they enjoy with their family!" I was really thinking this when a couple showed up 5 minutes before closing and wanted us to let them in the nursery so they could browse through! I actually wanted to say something more along the lines of "Don't you people have a life?!" but I refrained and calmly let them in for a couple minutes and then escorted them into the store so they could pay for their items. I guess that I was just so ready to go home to my family so we can go visit friends tonight, that I couldn't understand that these people didn't feel the same way. in conclusion I hope all of you reading this are going to enjoy your holiday by celebrating, the freedoms we have in this country, with your family.
