Seeing Seattle for the First Time

I'm sitting here in the kitchen nook resting my feet after walking around the Seattle Center all day. It was one of the more enjoyable visits I've had to Seattle Center simply because we had a friend with us who had never been to Seattle before. Our family has a membership to the Pacific Science Center and with it we can bring guests with us for free. So we took our visiting friends into the PSC today. two had been there before, but one hadn't seen anything like that before. Since I have been visiting the PSC since I was really little, I have seen pretty much everything there. But to have someone who had never been there was a lot of fun! I was able to show her around and she would get so excited about the exhibits & interactive booths! Then we got done at the PSC and went out by the Space Needle and told her that we would wait for her to go up the Needle. She was so happy! She has taken so many pictures that she won't be able to afford to develop them all!

Hot Weather, Visitors, and Origami

She decided to show up. Summer has finally arrived at the end of July. All week has been in the 80's and sunny! I never thought I would get sick of the rain.... but I did. A person can only go so long without the sun before disintegrating. I think pretty much everyone is happy to see the sun, and it looks like it will be here for at least another week.

Also this week, we have had some visitors from West Virginia & Texas. Mawmaw & Pawpaw (from WV) are visiting for a couple weeks in between We Care campaigns and brought a friend along. Mawmaw & Pawpaw are the grandparents of some good friends of mine, The Redding Brothers, and we have known them for a long time. They are truly encouraging to me & my family. I love to listen to the stories they tell of recent campaigns and of all the souls being reached because of Larry West and the We Care ministries.

Today I came home early because my knee was hurting... and I couldn't move around a whole lot. So I had my brother hunt down the origami book we had, and sat on the couch folding paper. I also printed out some diagrams off the internet, for some more complicated pieces. Not only were they complicated pieces, but they weren't in English! I tried for a long while to complete them, but I gave up. So I searched the Library catalog for Origami books. They have quite a few! One book I requested was called the Origami Bible. all the books I requested have step by step instructions which is what I need. I hope they come in soon! then maybe I can create some amazing shapes & designs to share with you all! ;)

Witness

tonight we visited one of our sister congregations for a concert by a group called Witness. They are an a cappella group from Cascade Christian College. the members change every few years as previous members graduate from college then new students can join the group. Its always enjoyable to hear Witness perform. The wonderful thing about the current group is that they are constantly giving God the credit for their ability to perform for people. They never try to draw attention to their own talent for singing. And they do sound good! They are travelling around this summer doing concerts at churches, so check out the link above to see if they are coming to your area.

Happy Birthday!

Today we had family over to celebrate my baby brother's birthday. He turned 9. I know not much of a baby. Its just scary to me that he is turning 9! next year will be double digits!! My brother, Bouncy Boy, is very much into Gameboy Advance so he recieved such gifts as a Gameboy case, Star Wars game, and Medal of Honor game. He also received items to "trick out" his bike with. Some awesome chopper pedals and a chopper style mirror.

While the family was here my uncle, Captain D, showed me a free photo program that he loves. It is so easy to use! I found out that it is related to the program I use to post my pics at The Picture Garden . Its really easy to use and I thought maybe some of my friends would like to try it out. It's called Picasa

Independence Day

here I am sitting comfortably on the couch after working a short shift at work. It has been an interesting day so far. Amazingly crazy. This was my first time to volunteer to work the holiday so I had no idea what it would be like. I assumed (silly me!) that people would sleep in, stay at home with family or go visit family. Not go shopping at a hardware store! In a way it was good because we sold a lot of merchandise but I started to feel overwhelmed because the plants were disappearing so quickly I didn't know where to start reorganizing the displays. The whole time I kept thinking... "What are all these people doing here today? They should be home celebrating, the freedoms they enjoy with their family!" I was really thinking this when a couple showed up 5 minutes before closing and wanted us to let them in the nursery so they could browse through! I actually wanted to say something more along the lines of "Don't you people have a life?!" but I refrained and calmly let them in for a couple minutes and then escorted them into the store so they could pay for their items. I guess that I was just so ready to go home to my family so we can go visit friends tonight, that I couldn't understand that these people didn't feel the same way. in conclusion I hope all of you reading this are going to enjoy your holiday by celebrating, the freedoms we have in this country, with your family.
